Yugoslavia - Liberation Issues

Warning - These web pages will load slowly with a dialup connection.  If at all possible a broadband connection should be used.

This web site started out as a project to organize my collection of Yugoslav Regional issues (1944-45) with the thought of forming an exhibit of these issues.  (OK, it was an accumulation, not a collection.)  In the process of working on this I discovered many places where I was lacking material and/or knowledge.  Somehow, this then evolved into a web site about the Liberation of Yugoslavia after World War II, in spite of the fact that some areas of my collection accumulation were rather weak (e.g. Partisan issues and Government-in-Exile issues).

Well, what you see is what I have.  What you don't see is my Want List.  If you have something for sale or trade that would fit into this display, let's talk.  If you have information that I could use to better explain this material, I would love to hear from you.  And if you can easily read the handwriting on cards and covers you may become my new best friend.

Also, like it says at the top of every page, this is a preliminary version and all comments, corrections and suggestions are welcome.  Please do not hesitate to use the email link.  Here it is again:

Technical Information:  Stamp images are 75 dpi; covers and larger pieces are 50 dpi.  I am considering converting to 100 dpi stamp images, but that would increase page loading time.  Your thoughts are welcome.

Suggestions:  I will use this section to record comments, suggestions and criticisms received.  I may exercise some editorial control.

1.  The first suggestion is from me.  Some of the illustrations of flyspeck varieties are not very clear, and perhaps it would be better to just eliminate them.  Either that or become more skilled at manipulating colors in Adobe Photoshop.  Thoughts?

2.  OK, I'll shut up after this one.  I checked the site out with a dialup connection (from a different computer).  All of the images load, but it often required several attempts.  When retrying, use Reload rather than Shift-Reload in order to use any images already cached.

Some of the images are just splattered on the page, while others are in borderless tables with one stamp to a cell.  In the latter case it's obvious when an image fails to load, but not so in the former case.  When I get some time, I will try to put all images in separate table cells.
