Berehove Stationery
The smallest of the three towns where overprinting occurred was Berehove. Here the 1944-issue 18f postal cards were also revalued "—.40"[fillér], but the two-line text, rather surprisingly, spelled Carpatho-Ukraine in Russian. The text, all in capital letters, reads upward almost vertically at an 82-degree angle. The overprint is known with two sizes of the obliterating bar in the upper right corner: 18mm (Figure 18) and 22mm. All of the overprinting – inscription and obliteration – is in black. Some 5,000 previously overprinted Khust cards were also prepared with a Berehove overprint.
